Myths about ukraine
Yesterday, a friend of mine was smoking a cigarette on his balcony at about 9 am when he saw a car stop across the street and push out a four year old boy and speed off. His flat was above the 8th floor, so he could not see the license plate, or the distinct make or model of the car, but he saw this little boy in the street crying. He started talking to his Ukrainian girlfriend, and she is a wonderful, kind hearted Ukrainian girl, but she was late for work. So, he went out there and started talking to the boy, trying to calm him down. Of course, the boy was crying for his mother and would not stop. My friend, who speaks Russian, was trying to figure out what to do. He is in a situation where he really cannot be talking to the police, or talking to too many people since he is a foreigner, but he stayed until he found an older lady that was willing to take the child and take care of the boy until a home could be found for him.
My friend was angry at me because just a day prior, I had asked him if he’d be open to adopting. Now, what are the odds that at that specific moment in time, he would have a desire to smoke a cigarette on his balcony, (at this time he is normally sleeping by the way due to the fact that he mostly works at night) that he would be looking in that direction, that that driver would have decided at that particular moment to abandon this child, and to drop that child off at that particular spot on the street – is just mind boggling!!! It was not an intersection. In fact, it was the middle of two blocks on a long street, but a generally crowded area. He was thinking about what to do! Should he take this boy in? I told him that he could have called me. I’d be open to taking in a little child. Unfortunately, I cannot speak Russian yet, so I would need some help to take care of a child until I could speak the language better.
People can be callous and heartless all over the world, but unfortunately, I feel like I see or hear about these types of things a little more often here than other places. Of course, many of my students have told me that they would love to travel to Africa. I told them I am not open to that at all, because I associate callousness and obliviousness to many of the countries in Africa even though I am sure there are many wonderful people and many wonderful places there.
What would you have done if you have witnessed this? Would you have scurried off to work? Or would your conscious have been weighted down enough to do something to help this poor boy? I’d like to think that I’d have jumped in and helped, but I just don’t know about myself. Many times, I have jumped in and helped when someone was in need, but not always.
Marry a Ukrainian Girl
So, you want to marry a Ukrainian girl? What do you do when a Ukrainian wife likes you? What would you do? What do you do when a married Ukrainian girl or Russian girl likes you? Well, it depends on a lot of things. Do you think that she is pretty? Do you like hangining out with her? What kind of personality does she have? What kind of thoguhts about the future does she have? Are her likes and dislikes similar to your own? Do you see eye to eye on many of life’s more pertinent questions such as children? Lifestyle? Views about money?
What does she like to do with her spare time? Does she like to read? Is she deep or shallow? Can she talk about more than just fashion, hair, nails, what she is going to buy, wants, to buy, where she wants to travel, and sex?
Does she like inproving herself? Will she actually think deeper than most people???If you say ‘yes’ to al of these things, then most men would gladly move forward and try to hook-up with her. Me, I just withdrew my energy and told her to read some books. We’l talk in a few weeks and if there are still feelings there at that time, we can talk. If not, she needs to live her life iwth her husband and live the life she was meant to live.
I have no desire to be the man responsible for breaking up a marraige – unless of course, the marriage was destined to break up any way. I have done that one. But, I didn’t end up with those girls. I just helped them to see a new point of view.
What would you do in a similar situation? I’d love to hear your opinion.
